Strong paper using nanotechnology

Scientists in Europe have reported to have created a new kind of paper that is stronger than cast iron and tougher than bone. The high-tech paper, made by splitting up wood pulp into cellulose nanofibres and then rearranging those fibres, is seven times stronger and two to three times as stretchable as conventional paper. The super-strong paper could be used to make tougher packaging, filters and car or aircraft parts.
Engineering experts at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden have found a way to create such a novel product which is a super-light, super-durable, super-strong paper that is made out of tiny nanofibers that are woven together to create paper that is then treated with carboxymethanol. The end result is a product that may be more than six times stronger than conventional paper.
