Semiconductor nanoparticles

Manzoor and others have reported on making Eco-Friendly doped semiconductor nanoparticles emitting multi-color luminescence. It is by a novel method of preparation of eco-friendly, doped semiconductor nanocrystals encapsulated within oxide-shells, both formed sequentially from a single-source solid-precursor. The precursor compound is prepared by an aqueous wet-chemical reaction involving necessary chemical reagents required for the precipitation, doping and inorganic surface capping of the nanoparticles which results in bright photoluminescence. They also report on Meso-scale self-assembly of doped semiconductor anocrystals leading to the formation of monocrystalline nanorods showing enhanced photo-and electro-luminescence properties. They have grown nanorods of length ~400 nm with aspect ratio 12 and exhibit self-assembly dependant luminescence properties.
