Nanomaterials in sports outfits
Nanotechnology has already penetrated all walks of life and has not left even the field of sports. All the conventional outfits such as racquets, sticks etc have all the influence of nanomaterials. Here is a list of innovations.
Racquets
Nano Titanium racquets are lightweight racquets structured at the molecular level. Integrated nano material strengthens the original Ti.weaves giving a stronger, faster, and more stable racquet than ever before. Nanotech industry today, with the introduction of the pattented HEAD Metallix and Airflow series of racquets feature PowerMetal’s patented nanometal which is a nanocrystalline reinforcement layer to stiffen the throat of the Metallix and Airflow series of racquets, yet adds minimal weight. PowerMetal’s nanometals allow equipment manufacturers to utilize the strength of these unique patented alloys to create superior product offerings.
A new model of badminton racquet, PROFESSIONAL TOUCH is a stronger, lighter and powerful racquet that channels maximum speed into the shuttlecocks. It is possible to get Stronger serves with tennis rackets five-times stiffer than carbon ones thanks to nanotubes
Stick
The new composite stick, devgeloped by Montreal Sports with the use of nanotechnology, is 60 - 70% better impact resistant than the traditional composite stick. This amazing difference in durability is possible because Montreal Hybtonite Nano Epoxy is not a blend of nanoparticles and Epoxy but a reacted Hybrid carbon nanotube epoxy matrix. The stick is four times more powerful, stronger and better looking, Thus we get lighter golf drivers for more swing power and accuracy with nano-composite material on the crown.
Golf shaft
NanofuseTM technology, found exclusively in Epic is a patented, proprietary material produced from the fusion of nano-crystalline molecules with a composite polymer substrate resulting in the strongest, lightest golf shaft material ever created.Unlike aluminum that has the same strength and stiffness in all directions, composite fibers have very high strength and stiffness in the direction of the fibers but much lower strength and stiffness across the fibers.
Tennis balls that maintain their bounce longer due to an engineered nanocomposite gas barrier and lighter bikes and faster racing with bicycle handles composed of ultra-light carbon nanotubes are also available now.
