Functional textiles using nanomaterials

Antistatic apparels are used in many industries concerned with electronics, communications, telecommunications and defense applications because people are the greatest source of static charge in these workplaces. These are also used in clean room for keeping dust and particle free and static controlled purpose in the field of Industrial, Medical, Chemical, Optical factory and Lab and Semiconductor lines etc. They are widely used in electronic, medical device and pharmaceutical industries where operator garments contamination is a concern. These are used to manufacture antistatic bags which are widely used in different applications such as air-solid separation of explosive dusts.
Nano antistatic agent
Nano-ZnO can be used to prepare antistatic finishing agent which can be applied to treat cotton and polyester fabrics to protect human health and improve human living environment. Nanometer antistatic finishing agent can be prepared as follows: A certain amount of nano-ZnO and surfactant are added into distilled water and the content is mixed well with ultrasonic vibration for several minutes, and then the adhesion agent is added under stirring. The cotton/polyester cloths are soaked for 5 min in the nanometer antistatic finishing agent, then the clothes are squeezed to remove the excess finishing agent by an open-width impregnator (two dipping and rolling). The treated fabrics are dried and baked in a curing machine at 80 deg.C for one min. and at 160 deg.C for 3 min.The cotton and polyester fabrics treatment with nanometer antistatic finishing agent could significantly improve their antistatic properties, and low concentration of finishing agent could achieve better antistatic effect.
