Nanotechnology for optics

Interaction of light with matter renders unique information about the structural and dynamical properties of matter and are of great importance for the study of biological and solid-state nanostructures. Near-field optical techniques are applied to probe complex semiconductor nanostructures as well as individual protein molecules. Nano-optics addresses the broad spectrum of optics on the nanometer scale covering areas like nanolithography, high density optical data storage etc., Nano-optics could allow for an increase in precision of pupil repair and other types of laser eye surgery. The first sunglasses using protective and antireflective ultra thin polymer coatings are on the market. For optics, nanotechnology also offers scratch resistant coatings based on nano-composites. These coatings are transparent (hence optical performance is not affected) ultra-thin, simple care, well-suited for daily use and the price is reasonable for the durability and have the fallowing additional qualities.
• hydrophobic
• oleophobic
• Anti-Soiling
• Protects against abrasion
• Antimicrobial protection
