Nano carbon

Nano-structured carbons have applications such as in advanced fillers, materials for energy and gas storage, sensors and elements for molecular electronics devices. Of the various methods of preparation of carbon materials pyrolysis of organic precursors mostly polymeric under an inert atmosphere is one of the methods to yield large-scale engineering carbons and the other is hysical/chemical vapor deposition techniques that produces well-defined nanostructured carbons. Pyrolysis technique can be applied for large scale production but with limited control over carbon nano structure, but the vapour deposition method yields atomic scale precision in control of the nanostructure. But the latter method is expensive, gives limited yield and requires complex equipments for manufacture.
